One More Reject and Thumping Victory!!!

I am 2-0 down in my MBA pursuit.. Got a Reject letter from INSEAD..so ISB and INSEAD are ruled out.. I am left with only 3 more schools. Meanwhile, I have already started listing advanatges why MBA is not the right thing for me.. Those would be the excuses I would have to use if i dont get a Admit :D..

Anyways, the week belonged to Cricket..India 2-0 down [ Even they were 2-0 down, hopefully I would turn the tables the way indians did :) ] , fought hard and won the historic match..Hope such victories keep coming to us !!!

I feel taking the defeat into the stride is an quality that greats possess. reading so-called cricekt greats mention that aussies lost coz they were "un-australian" in the way they appealed and showed aggression, was funny. "The streak of 16 str8 victories was halted because aussies had to play in the spirit of the game".

Dont think there is any bigger insult to aussie's record in saying that they won 16 in row because they intimidated umpires and claimed dropped catches..

Come on !! Aussies played better cricket and hence they won 16 in a row.. and at perth, Indians played better... Accept the defeat, Guys..:)

Meanwhile, an desire to improve my finance led me to read couple of books.. At least it made me realize how poor money manager I am :) . Reading "Cashflow Quadrant" of Robert Kiyosaki [ Rich Dad, Poor Dad Fame] was eye-opener. Want to understant the stock market better and hence have started reading "All about Stocks".. Will have to see how far I go in this new-year resolution to "read Books"..

Bus neend aa rahi hain , let me go!!! bbye

Life Always Dishes Out "Unexpected" !!!!

How cliched it is to say "Only thing that is constant is change".. Though equally true it is. It was Perhaps First Week of July..A casual talk with colleague, serious discussion with my manager and genuine introspection during this last week of my stay in Chicago ...and there I was on 17th of July , Buying a Gmat Prep book in hyderabad.

I never considered myself to be MBA material. After all, its not my forte to be "politically correct". However, after seeing mediocrity around, I wondered why not give it a shot. I surprised myself by deciding to work towards MBA "Unexpected". worked hard, I must say. To the best of my abilities. 720 GMAT score was decent but still little disappointing. I still feel perhaps it was not my day. some luck and it would have been 740-750..

Looking back (and attention MBA aspirants) , GMAT prep was lot easier than whole application process. Researching for school, writing essays, consulting lotta guys, reviewing and re-reviewing essays , managing recommendation letters. All this Drains u a lot more..seems like I was cut off from whole world..and Now that I got nothing much to do than to hope for the interview call , I thought of writing this up... One small step n first blog of life :) ..would be surprised if I write regularly..

Now 6 months after I first thought about MBA , I am a content man. I submitted application for all 6 schools and ISB already rejected :( ... Disheartened... nevertheless, I m hopeful that something better would come out of my efforts.

By march end, I would get to know whether my efforts were good enough.. if they are not, would have to explore the options.. Let me see what change awaits me around the corner... 2008 I hope is a year of reckoning for me.. I just hope it is . Life needs to move ahead. :)
